A (VERY SHORT) HOMILY FOR THE SEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME – CYCLE “A” – 2/23/20
This much shortened homily is to accommodate the “Come Build God’s Kingdom” stewardship witness, that is being given today.
+ Pax et Bonum! Peace and goodness to you!
We’ve probably all heard it said, that we can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again, and then expect different results. No, if we want different results, we’ve got to change things up. We must do things differently. Sometimes we’ve got to do more. Sometimes we’ve got to be MORE committed!
Jesus points this out for us in our Gospel today. There’s the Jewish law, an eye for an eye, and love our neighbor and hate your enemy. But Jesus is calling all of us way beyond the just the usual rules. He’s calling us to more, to be more committed, to greater sacrifice, to give more of our lives to Him, and to see the amazing results! Today we are called to see and do things differently, and to reap the benefits as God’s people.
To continue our “Come Build God’s Kingdom” stewardship series, we have a special witness today from two of my favorite people. Brent and Vicki Stauffacher. Please welcome Brent and Vicki to our Mass this evening…
+ May God bless us, help us to live out our commitment to Christ, and to make whatever sacrifices are necessary, for the building up of His Kingdom! AMEN !!!
St. Maria Goretti… Pray for us !!!
