St. John Paul II
Planning to get Married? Congratulations!
We rejoice with you! We hope you will use this special time to deepen your relationship. We want to help you prepare for your wedding day and for your entire married life together. Because marriage is a sacrament in the Catholic Church, it is a sacred event for both you and all of us.
For no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”This is a great mystery, but I speak in reference to Christ and the church. (Ephesians 5: 29-32)
Be assured that our goal is to make your wedding a memorable experience of the sacrament. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can anyone prepare for marriage at St. Maria Goretti?
Sorry, we can’t prepare everyone, but we can help those who are already registered parishioners in good standing (at least four months). At times, we can prepare non-parishioners; however, this requires a $200 stipend.
How long does Pre-Marital Counseling last?
Pre-Marital Counseling sessions gives an opportunity for you to better understand yourself, your partner, and the nature of the marriage relationship. The final sessions provide you the opportunity to discuss the details of your wedding. The amount of time spent in pre-marital counseling is dependent upon the maturity and needs of the couple as determined by our priest.
Can we have an off-site wedding?
The preferred location for a Catholic wedding is always a Catholic church. Special permissions can be obtained to have your wedding in another Catholic church or another Christian church.
Who may officiate our wedding at St. Maria Goretti?
You may ask any priest assigned to St. Maria Goretti to officiate your wedding. If a visiting priest will be presiding at your wedding, it is expected that all these guidelines be followed and that visiting clergy will provide all documentation from their dioceses or religious order to us. Visiting clergy should contact our Pastor, Father Brian Dudzinski as soon as possible to obtain permission and to receive a copy of our Wedding Guide.
